Story of Smile Ville

In 2017  became acute in our son  lymphoblastic  Diagnosed with leukemia (ALL), which resulted in chemotherapy treatment.  A world collapsed for us. We have never been with cancer before  been faced. However, it should be a stressful turning point in our life that should pose many challenges and many  Would require changes.

Many followed  inpatient stays in the children's hospital, many chemotherapies, as well  regular checks, inductions and bone marrow punctures.

With our son the first was  therapy  just over two years.

He was then considered cured.

About 15% of the  Children and adolescents attending an ALL  fall ill, suffer a relapse of the disease (relapse). Our son suffered his relapse after 8 months. The next treatment should include more intensive chemotherapy with the aim of remission (temporary decrease or temporary disappearance of the symptoms of the disease)  Cancer, but without achieving a cure) .  This was followed by an allogeneic stem cell transplant  (Transfer of stem cells from a donor to a recipient. The prerequisite for this is that the tissue characteristics of the donor and recipient largely match. The stem cells are obtained from the blood or bone marrow ).

During the  Therapies from our son, we noticed that in the moments when he could actively help, such as opening catheter sleeves, helping to rinse with NACL and a lot more, he seemed happier and more radiant. It seemed to make it easier for him to go through all of the blood draws, medications, and tests. This made him feel more capable of acting and less "at the mercy".
